Rim Nordic
Sunday was the first race of the Rim Nordic cross-country series in Running Springs, Ca and at the start I thought I was ready. Boy was I wrong. Finishing last place except for the two DNF's
( i think there was 9 semi-pro's at the start) shows how ready I really was. I felt good For the first two laps but had no power in the legs. After i finished the first lap I saw that 1st place was about 9-11 minutes in front of me. That was I sign that I have alot of work to do.
For the team, it was a good day. For me I just was happy to finish. Next Rim nordic race is July 15th
Monday was a spin day. Hopped on the road bike and spun around East highland for 2 hours.
Today i'll sit on the trainer while the clothes get clean.

Weekend recap

I took Friday off to do the 12 hours of Temecula, but lack of funds was the reson that didn't happen. I told myself I would at least get a good ride in so I decided to finally do the lake silverwood ride i have been talkin about for a while. The ride started (from my house really) at starbucks on the corner of Palm and Kendall out by Cal State San Bernardino. From there headed out 2n49 which is at the top of Palm. I have been told that it loose and step but the only to really find out was to see for myself. And yes, it had a few steepy's in it and some sections were loose. the most dicourageing thing was that all the fire rd. sighns were gone except at the beginning and end. this made navigating kind of a challenge.once i past the first two or three intersections I made eye contact with lake silverwood. It was an awesome view. Plan was to find my way over to crab flats via fire rds. and then ride from green valley lake to fawnskin. That didn't happen. Not this time but it will in the near future. So from silver wood I climbed up hwy138 to Crestline then took the hwy 18 to 40th and waterman. Quizno's! YUM! with 5hours and 20 minutes in the saddle and 56 miles in my legs is was a good day.

the climb from top of Palm

No, I did not ride this section. I wanted to though

I need to purchase some hiking gear. :)
Saturday I rode Rim Nordic with the team. Next weeks race will be the 8.5 mile course. We got two good laps in averaging around 42 minutes a lap. The pass will be much faster than that. I predict 32-38 minute laps by some. After the ride I went and hung out at the shop and learned how to blead my brakes. Much easier than i had thought.
On monday it was a good day to go out and spin so i decided to see how much of the Santa ana beach trail was completed. It starts at waterman and Hospitality and continues along the Santa Ana. I made it all the way to university and came across a flooded section so i turned back. 3hours and 12minutes - 51-miles.
IT looks like it goes at least to Van Buren but could actualy go all the way to the 15. I can't wait til this trail is completed.

Silverwood to Angelus Oaks
I'll be starting at 5 a.m. on saturday6/16/07 at Starbucks on the corner of Palm and Kendall. I plan on taking fireroad 2n49 to silverwood and see what happens from there. Not to sure yet. I don't have 100 bucks to go do circles for 12-hours so i figured i'll just spend the day pedalling. Once i make may way to Big Bear I'm taking Radford road to Seven Oaks then taking 1n48 (I think thats the #) to Southfork and doing the single track down to Mentone.

I have been slacking big time on my blog and I no this....Man. I finally have the ability to blog at work again. For some reason all my cookies were being blocked and had to ask an administrater to fix this and asure him that my work that i get paid to do is getting done :) Yeh Right..
It was a relaxing weekend. Didn't do a damn thing on Saturday except sleep, eat and be merry. Dereck called me Saturday nite to tel me about the team rd. ride in Big Bear Sunday morning. My wife turned my cell phone off so i could get some undisturbed needed sleep.I didn't notice this until about 6:30am. So that didn't happen.
Sunday was the 1st B.S. ride I attended without the Reed's present. They up and retired and moved to Colorado. The nerve of them. So Milkman called Loc leven for Sunday's ride. Before riding to Milkman's place I decided to ride up hwy330 to Citycreek forest station just to get a little climb in. The weather was great. Nice and cool at 6;30 in the morning. Once i got up to about 2300 ft. I rode out of the marine layer and into some warm sunshine, just to turn around and go back down to highland. Nice 1-1/2 hour warm up before the ride
We made it to Loc Leven around 8:55 for our 9 o'clock start.I was ready to go just threw my helmet on and i was gone. A good group showed up. Eight of us at the start.Joe ,Craig , jim,Marty,Adam from team possibilty's,Mr.&Mrs Milkman and myself. The pace was fast at first . I think we averged about 8-1/2 miles an hour up to the poison oak waterfall.Yes a very beutful waterfall surrounded by the poison oak. After that i backed off and let Craig and Adam do there thing. Once we got to the store everyone turned back except Marty, Adam and I continued to do the single trak. Once we started Adam didn't want to do the first section. He said it's really loose at this time plus he was on a cycle-cross bike. So Adam and i took the shortcut to the 2nd section while Marty ventured on solo. Santa ana river trail is always awesome . If you don't think so there is some thing wrong with ya. We rode to middle control rode then headed back up to A.O..From there headed back down to loc leven. To my surprise Mr.& Mrs. Milkman were still in the parking lot waiting for me. I had planned on rideing home to make it at least a 60-mile day. Instead we went to A&W for some cooked cow and ended my day with 38 miles and 3-1/2 hours of loly Gagin .
Monday morning i was out on the rode. Headed toward the north end . Took Kendal out to Little league dr. and Looped around and came down Palm. Short spin but it felt ggod to just spin.
26-miles 1-1/2 hours.
hopefully i'll be able to get some riding in before friday. I plan on doing the 12hours of Temecula on the 16th. That gives me 2-weeks to get prepared for rideing the same 10.5 mile course for 12 hours. Fun, fun ,fun. and the week after that.....Rim Nordic and i can't wait. I love that course and I feel that i'm as ready as i'm gonna be. Anyone plan on camping out??? C'ya there.
