Southridge NMBS #1 Marathon #2

NMBS marathon #2 wasn't the turn out that Mcdowell state park was but still had plenty to offer and plenty of competition. It was cinco de mayo (5th of May for us gringo's) and the weather was perfect for us early racers. The marathon started at 7:30am, nice and cool. I was at the start line and the only thing that was making me sweat was seeing Jay Henry, Chris Eatough, and Travis Brown to my left. Mike Lee, Troy Misseghers to my right. I was in ahh. Asking myself "what am i getting myself into?" Then, we were off! Felt pretty good actually, until my 5th lap when the top three guys started to pass me then it was all about finishing. I fill i did o.k. I placed 16th out of 22. Not great but I finished, and i did it with a smile on my face. Can't beat that!
I didn't plan on having any one hand off bottles but Derek "the Hermanator" Hermon from Bear Valley Bikes had a bottle in hand, waiting for me on every lap.Muchos gracias bro! Did i mention we did 7 laps. ouch! But ouch in a good way.
Sunday was Single Speed day. 3 laps and since i did 7 on friday i told myself i was going full throttle "Bur burt wahh wah!" I finished in 8th place and turned 3 laps on my single in under 2 hours 1:56 to be exact. And when i rolled thru the finish, there was my homie Ara with beer in hand at the microphone stand handing me a cold one.Thank for the cheers and beers bro!
I can't forget to thanks the dudes from the Jenson's USA boothe. I broke my singulator before the race and the fellow's there hooked me up. No charge! Wish i could remember there names so i could give them proper props.
The next nmbs that i will appear at will be the Sonoma 6-hour. (marathon #3) Next race......
you beat'cha, Southridge June 3rd. Be there if you want some :)

Comments:
